Re: Does your building have an ISS program?
Posted by: Our elementary has an ISS program. I'm the ISS teacher on 2/28/10
Our teachers are good in providing the required work for each
day. Many times the teachers send emails indicating the work
assigned for the day, or they will send a student with it. I
also have packets ready for each grade level which address
state grade level expectations, including items from each core
subject area. I include writing activities that correlate with
the writing portions of the state testing.
Each student must complete a "reflection packet" in which they
tell what he/she did that resulted in ISS, as well as why this
was a problem (other than earning ISS), and how to avoid this
situation in the future.
Students eat lunch in the ISS room and are given regular breaks
for restroom/drink. Other than that, they are expected to
work. They know that not completing require work will result
in additional time in the ISS room.
