    Post: Alternative admin certification
    Posted by: lynne/ca on 7/03/10

Related to the question in my previous thread - what
alternative certification does your state have for
administrators and how common is it?

Can a person become an administrator without taking
coursework in educational leadership? (in California, yes,
if they score high enough on the SLLA exam that can be used
    in lieu of coursework)

Can a person become an administrator without having a
background in education? (in California, no, they have to
have certification as either a teacher or a school
counselor and have to have at least two years full-time
certificated experience in an educational setting)
