Keep the mandatory parts short and keep it positive.
Introduce new staff members, recognize any significant staff
events that occured over the summer (marriages, births, etc
for those who want to be recognized), go over any major
logistical changes from the previous year - changes in
implementation of school rules, changes in locations of
frequently-used facilities, changes in roles of staff (for
example if the person teachers should go to with a particular
problem is not the same person as last year, make sure they
know who it is now), briefly discuss goals for the year
(discipline, test scores, attendance, etc - whatever your
    emphasis is).
Be aware of what the staff is used to in terms of any time
spent for socializing or sharing what they did over the
summer in conjunction with the meeting. Some schools consider
that a treasured tradition, others avoid it like the plague
and treasure time to work in their classrooms much more
highly. Especially if you're new, be aware of school culture
and tradition; go with what the staff at your school seems to
    prefer.
