    As you can see by the previous post, the first characteristic
    needed is to understand the impact that you can have on the
    lives of children, their families, and your staff. Be focused
    and determined when it comes to school climate and student
    learning, and above all, be kind. Make sure that it is what you
    want to do and that you have the time to do it well, 10-12 hour
    days including at least one weekend day per week is the norm and
    furlough days and decreased work year does not make any of the
    work go away. Be in it for the kids and their learning, because
    ultimately it's all about learning. It is very rewarding but
    very difficult (and lonely) work....I wouldn't want to be doing
    anything else (except teaching, of course!).
