Re: Literacy Coaches

In our system, all of the elementary schools now have a
literacy coach, an interventionist and a para to assist in
working with at risk students. The coach oversees the others
and reports to the principal. After the DIBELS test is
administered, the data is used to determine who needs the
most assistance. The coach works with the principal to
monitor classroom to see that things are carried out as
prescibed and the interventionist and para actually pull the
students who need additional work.
One of our schools has had the program in place three years I
think and they have seen tremendous results.
