High school, not middle school -
45 minutes after school, supervised by our ISS supervisor.
Approximately fifteen minutes of it is a character education
lesson presented by the supervisor; for the other 30 minutes
students work on homework/classwork that they bring with them.

That is for admin-assigned detentions. A few teachers also
assign their own detentions as a classroom consequence prior
to admin referral and in those cases it's supervised by the
teacher in their classroom. That's the teacher's choice, not
    required.
