    It doesn't hurt to ask. Rather than asking why you didn't get
    the position, though, I'd ask if there is anything they
    recommend you do that would increase your chances in the
    future.
    Sometimes their answer will be "no". For the last interviews
    I did, of the eight candidates interviewed my answer to six
    of them would have been just "apply again if we have another
    opening". Of those we interviewed there were only two
    candidates for whom I could have offered a suggestion for
    growth. I would have gladly hired all six of the others if
    we'd had six openings. Sometimes it's nothing you've done
    wrong, just a matter of having to choose only one person.
