Your comments above got me wondering: have any states adopted standards
specifically for special education?
In California, the closest we have are:
* Blueprints for alternative assessments (for grades 3-11 in English
Language Arts, Math, and Science) that list the standards that should be
taught to students taking those assessments (three options: standards at
grade level with modified format; standards at grade level with modified
content; standards at K-1 level for all grades)
* Braille Reading Standards (state-adopted) for grades K-12
* Braille Mathematics Standards (state-adopted) for grades K-12
However, there are no standards that provide guidance regarding what should
be taught to address needs below the level of kindergarten standards, or for
any subjects other than ELA, math, and science.
What do other states have?
