LOL, when I saw the question, "following the law" was my thought
as well! I'll add:
* Be aware of the law (including: up-to-date about changes)
* Ensure that staff is aware of applicable laws as related
to their positions (inculding: teachers, other certificated,
classified). There are also many situations in which you may need
to ensure students and parents are aware of laws as well.
* Follow the law, be aware of whether staff is following
the law, immediately correct any areas in which it's not
happening.
* In some instances this means it may be necessary for the
district to consult with an attorney to ensure the above.
