I am a teacher who is trying to get back into the field
after staying home with my kids for the past three years. I
have done some very part time substitute teaching and have
been applying for lots of jobs.
Anyone, about two weeks ago, a principal called me for a
phone screening. He told me he and the assistant principal
would then decide to call in for a real interview. I got a
call and my interview is next week. This is what it
entails:
15 minute interview with group of teachers 20 minute demo
lesson to a common core standard given (Teaching actual
class of summer school students). 30 minutes to answer
essay questions 30 minutes to create online presentation
(topic to be given after essay. I was just told to bring in
family photos on flash drive).
Is this a new thing? My last job I had a 30 minute team
interview with the principal and three teachers.
I have no idea how many people they are bringing in from
the initial group of those screened, but I am thinking it
would be a small group of candidates they are more serious
about?
It just seems like a lot to go through to try to get a job.
This is not even one of the top districts in the area. It
is an average district and the school has not made AYP for
over 5 years.
