Definitely not something I'm dealing with since we have few
openings and many teachers out of work, but... look into
whether any of your current, good subs are certified for the
position and encourage them to apply, same for any classified
employees who are qualified for teaching; ask local university
teacher education departments about recent graduates; make
sure your staff are aware of the opening (they may know good
people they can persuade to apply, who might not have been
actively looking); post visible announcements in extra
locations in the community, send a districtwide email if that
will get the word out to some who don't know about the opening
(for word of mouth in the community, and to reach any
qualified non-teaching staff in other positions)... aside from
all the usual. Good luck!
