Some "good" teachers might decide to pass on a district that
has so many openings this late in the year. That's a red flag
to a job hunter or job changer, indicating disorganization and
lack of planning, at best, and possibly very bad working
conditions, including unruly students...in other words,
something caused the twenty teachers to leave their
jobs in a terrible economy. I also think it takes more than an
afternoon to comprise a list of good applicants. I am sure
you'd get a large response from newspaper help wanted ads, and
the national teacher employment sites and job-bots such as
educationamerica, teachers-teachers, simplyhired, etc. I would
have thought that principals keep files of outstanding
candidates they interviewed in the past but were not chosen.
