Re: How do you feel about teachers sending emails during cla

I'm tired of putting my all and
> spending time actually teaching during my classes.
This sentence concerns me more than someone who might send an
occasional email. If you are tired of doing your job,
retirement or resignation for another career are always viable
options.
I think there is a necessary middle ground here.
Obviously, a teacher chained to the computer and paying no
attention to the students is a problem.
But -- so is someone who doesn't read and reply to emails in a
prompt manner.
At a MS/HS level, I would expect a teacher to glance at that
inbox each class change. Not to read and reply to everything,
but to check that there wasn't something there that needed
quick attention.
We are frequently emailed things that we need to know - - fire
drill has been rescheduled. Oopps...the field hockey team is
leaving at 2:15 and we forgot to put it on the morning
announcements.
Reading everything after school means you are uninformed and
not following through on something you were supposed to be
doing sometimes.
As in nearly everything, moderation is the appropriate
response.
