Post: Making Deals w/Students is Ineffective

Making deals with students is not effective teaching. It
teaches students that when they grow up, everything will be
negotiable, and they will take no responsibility for their
actions or work. (You may find some of the examples in the
article silly and funny, but they are all actual "deals"
that have been observed in classrooms.)

So, what works better than making deals with students?
