Let me try it again... From this post:
Re: Are pantsuits OK ? Posted by To "sorry" from just me on 5/07/08
"I wouldn't want to interview with you and probably wouldn't want to work on your staff, if you are a principal or superintendent.
I was trying to say with my reply Name: Thats OK, you don't have to (work for me)"
Then I continued on with this response: "As I said originally, I don't expect dresses(for women) every day but I firmly believe that dressing UP says you are willing to do what it takes and that you want to put your best foot forward for the interview. I also look for at least a tie on a male candidate, and a sport jacket or suit is even better. I am a principal in a relatively new school in an afluent area. I might see it differently if I were in a rural area, which is what the original poster asked. I wear suits/nylons/dresses because I am a professional business executive, just like the parents I deal with.
P.S. to the poster that had to deal with being called uppity-- drop the name of the best second hand stores in town."
The PS was in response to: Re: Are pantsuits OK ? Posted by really??? on 5/07/08 who said: however, I worked in a neighboring system and dressed professional everyday and the staff put out rumors about my financial status and accused me of being "uppity" because I dressed up everyday....I did not fit in because of that....questions swirled about my car and my house too.....sadly, a woman can't have nice things without people starting rumors
I interviewed six very qualified candidates for 2 positions this past week. One male, he wore a tie. Five women...four wore dresses or skirt outfits and one wore a nice pantsuit. The two women I hired were in dresses. Did I hire them only because they were in dresses? No. But they were the most confident (is that because they looked their best?), and had the all-round best answers and background.
