Re: This OP didn't just reprimand a child. He threatened to
Posted by break the child's neck. There is a BIG difference. more on 5/14/08

I've corrected children in public, too. I've corrected children while
their parents were standing next to them. HOWEVER, at no time would I
have ever, EVER told a child I would kick his ass and that I would
    break his neck.

That was, as the OP said, over the top.

Moreover, this teacher said this in the community in which he
teaches. There is a moral expectation for a teacher and there is
certainly an expectation of maturity and of ability to control one's
    temper.

Finally, the police were called. I'm not so sure we have the entire
    story.

In the end, the school did the right thing FOR THE KIDS. If the
teacher/OP feels that he can be a good teacher, he needs anger
managemnt classes and he can apply to another school away from where
    this occurred.
