Re: Changing School
Posted by Waski_the_Squirrel on 5/12/08

I haven't changed jobs quite as quickly as you, but I do have
quite a long resume! I taught at 2 schools in one state, and
am on my 4th in my current state.

I'm honest and I spin it as a positive. In my last interview I
said, "I want to find a school district that is large enough
to remain open through my career and from which I can retire.
I think my experience in several schools has shown me exactly
what to look for in a new school. Believe me, I would not be
applying here if I didn't have good reason to believe this is
    a good match."

One of my interviewers told me she was impressed by how
knowledgeable I was about the district and the area.

Never, ever say anything negative. I left my previous job
because of nasty fighting between board and teachers. I even
got badly misquoted in several major state newspapers over
what was going on. My interviewers knew it and had read the
paper. I simply noted that, "The town and school had a lot of
potential, but I was not able to do my best in that
environment. Unfortunately, as I'm sure you read, the papers
put together the most sensational parts of my statement." It
helped that another of my interviewers had received the same
    treatment from the same paper.

If they want details, they'll ask. Most of the time, they
already know and are looking for how you explain it.
