In our state, sex offenders who commit crimes OUTSIDE this state can move to this state and legally live as close as they want to a school. The investigative reporter found a number of known sex offenders who live as close as 256 feet from a school -- and all these offenders are CHILD molesters of one sort or another. Why on earth would legislators make a law that DOESN'T apply to ALL sex offenders living in the state -- and not just those who committed crimes IN the state? At this point, very likely even if they CHANGE the law to include all, they could do it retrospectively. If the sex offenders are already living near a school, they would probably have to be grandfathered in. (This paragraph reflects MY thoughts not what was said on the report.)
