Posted by Principal Intern on 8/06/08 Unfortunately, Lynne, you didn't get the job that you expected. However, life goes on and you must move on with a positive attitude. Get over it! A better situation lies ahead. As a principal intern in another school district, I have had the opportunity to sit in on several teacher interviews this summer. I have noticed one basic aspect about candidates who worked as substitute teachers in the district, been a student teacher or intern in the district, or know someone in the interview room: they "let their guard down" during the interview and fail to sell themselves, perhaps thinking "they already know what I can do". Administrators are basically looking for "salesmanship", enthusiasm, a love of kids, and a variety of strategies that the candidate is comfortable using in several situations. Best wishes!
