Re: How do you introduce yourself to students/each class?

I have been thinking about this since I am at a new site this
year.
I have discipline assemblies planned beginning with 6th and 5th
grades on Tuesday of the first week of school. I will work
backwards and finish up with kindergarten on Friday of the
first week. During the assembly, I will introduce myself,
administration staff, our noon supervisors and set the tone for
expectations and school wide discipline.
On Friday, we will make an short announcement to recognize
students who have been "caught" knowing and following the rules
during the week and to set the routine for this weekly
recognition of student behavior, attendance, and/or achievment.
We will thank students and teachers for a wonderful first week
of school.
My principal and I will also visit every classroom on the first
day to say hi and welcome students.
We will also be out before and after school as well as during
recess and lunch to meet students. I will show students diring
the discipline assembly how to introduce themselves to me and
ask them to help me remember their names by doing so. I knew
every student's name at my last school and hope that I will
soon know all of my new student's names too.
