Re: help with violent child

This parent needs help. Who knows what life is like at home. I
would call a formal meeting with his mom and social worker.
You can use the guidelines found by clicking below. If he is
unsupervised at home, has a TV or violent video games that are
his "teacher," then that could be some of his problem. Or, if
he experiences violent behavior from an adult, that would
contribute to his anger as well.
There are several articles that may be helpful besides the one
on "Guidelines for Educators-Parent Conferences Concerning
Angry Children." You may also want to read: "30 Ideas for
Teaching Children with ADHD" and "Helping Children Cope with
Anger." Sometimes if the parent just does one or two things
differently, huge changes can occur, i.e. TV out of his room, a
bedtime routine with a story, calmness before school, more
positive interactions, etc. (Also see, Parenting Tips for
reproducible handouts you can share).
