    Post: Disabled Teacher Question????????

    Posted by Jared on 10/05/08

Hello, quick question. I have recently become certified as
an art teacher in NYS and I have a disability. The
disability I have can not be seen but I have one. I have a
severe learning disability. I know in interviews it is
against the law for interviewers to ask me but I am scared
if i don't tell them and they find out i might lose my job -
When and if i make a mistake and they find out. I have a
lot of trouble following directions written and verbal and
it takes me a while to learn how to do something new. Also,
i have an anxiety disorder. I love teaching art and have
done it for some time on and off for different programs but
i was never certified and now i am. I want to teach in a
Public or Private School. Well, should i tell interviewers
about my disability in the interview or should i wait until
after hired. Any info would be helpful
