I appreciate the opportunity to reflect on the inherent
difficulty that the season brings. Our cultural diversity is
what makes us such a strong nation and yet without common
ground, it seems impossible to politely and accurately
celebrate with our students and all stakeholders. Focusing on
the darkness that brings the end of one year and the light
that drives in the new is such a universally powerful image
that everyone can relate to and find comfort in. This is a
foundation that any administration can use to pay homage to
the season without upsetting a delicate balance of respect
    for cultural differences.
