In my state (CT), you need to have taught for 5 years in order
to become certified as an administrator. It's really difficult to
be an instructional leader if you have never spent any time in
a classroom as a full time teacher.
I too am confused by your statement that you have done
teaching. What kind of teaching are you talking about?
Certainly, you haven't served as a classroom teacher having
day to day interactions with students.
You also say you want to be a high school principal, and yet
you don't want to have day to day interactions with kids. I'm
not sure how you think you'll be able to avoid that?
Seriously, our high school principal spends much of his day
interacting with students in one form or another.
Perhaps you might enlighten us with what you envision your
life as a high school principal will be like?
