Both of the previous responders made good points. Make sure you
are aware of your state and/or retirement system's rules
regarding working in a school again while receiving a pension as
a retired school employee. You may need to wait a certain amount
of time and/or be limited to a certain amount of work or pay.
Also, be aware that public schools may not be allowed to pay you
a smaller salary ("to supplement your retirement") even if you
are willing to take a reduced amount. Very frequently the
contract prohibits this (and for good reason).

If the above issues mean that you are not able to return to a
regular public school teaching position at this time, I
definitely recommend pursuing other options, such as day-to-day
or long-term subbing, tutoring, part-time teaching, private
school positions, etc. Where I am it is extremely common for
retired teachers to come back as subs and because of their
experience they are among the most frequently requested,
particularly in the schools where they previously taught.

    Good luck!
