I'm sorry, I realized I put no news is good news, I should have put
no news is "you're not being offered the job." Sorry.
I am just going from my experience. There is no set answer. I have
had literally 12 interviews since May, with 10 of them being "no's".
The responses have ranged from a Sorry we went with someone else"
call the next day, to a call 2 weeks later, to a form email to all
candidates who did not get the job sent out a couple weeks after the
interview.
I have 2 "second interviews" next week and both of these districts
called me the next day to schedule the second interviews.
MOST and I say most, interviews will involve you being told at the
end of the interview the "what's next" process with timeline of
hiring process, when you should hear back, and that. I was at one
where this was not stated and I just asked as the principal was
walking with me to the door. No biggie, he appreciated that I asked
and he was glad to tell me.
So the short answer is - it all varies from district to district
when you find out after an interview. You seem to have a special
case where the interview process is being extended.
That said - I have been told by someone "in the know" to send a
short, to the point, pleasant email after the interview re-thanking
them for the opportunity to interview, but not too "pushy" like
don't go on about how great of a fit you are for the school, the
job, etc. So you have given them followup contact, they know you
are interested in the job still. I personally in this situation
would not call them and press again. But I don't think it would
HURT to call the principal directly???? I personally wouldn't
though.
I hope this helps, I'm sorry I'm not an administrator, I am just
giving my experience from having several interviews over the last
few months.
Good luck! I really hope you get the job and everything goes as you
hope. If it helps, I still have not secured a position, although
the possibilities are still there with these 2nd interviews next
week, but I am not counting on those as a solid thing yet. So we're
sort of in the same boat! Cheers and good luck to you! Maybe an
administrator will better answer your question from their
perspective, I just felt compelled to answer since I can relate!
